Artist Statement

I am a beadworker and a glass lover. When I say I am a beadworker, I mean that I collect beads like a bee collects pollen; drawn by instinctive nature. Then from that same pull I create something. May it be a necklace, pair of earrings, rosary, curtain, glasses chain, anklet, or a table I will make what I am supposed to. When I say I am a glass lover, I mean that when I see glass beads illuminated with the sun I feel a dancing sensation within me. Of all things beautiful, playful, and light I am an enjoyer. When creating with beads I am not from anywhere nor of anything. I am at my simplest. Each process of bead working is different. I am not a jeweler, mosaicker, rosary maker, or a glassworker. I am a beadworker and I work where the beads take me. Each process of choosing beads however, is the same. I listen to my playlists, watch my shows, and sometimes listen to my books. Similar to singing the same song over and over, I will lose my emotional passion for the piece if I hone on my feelings in the making. I must be inspired, write it down, and forget about it.

I am not a creator in the way that I want the world to feel how I feel, but a creator in the way that I want the viewer to see how I feel and then think about how they feel. I aim to strike whimsy into my viewer and remind them to reminisce something of their own.
